Industrial visit at K.R.Thoppur 400/230kv substation on 01.04.2022

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering in association with Energy Club of Paavai Engineering College (Autonomous) organized a one day industrial visit to 400/230kV Substation, K.R.Thoppur located in the Salem district on 1st April2022.Eighty three students of third year Electrical and Electronics Engineering branch who were accompanied by five faculty members took part in the visit. Students came to know about the various parts of the substation system. They also understand that in the control room, every quantity of the substation is continuously monitored and observed that the real time data of substation on the panel. A substation thathas a step-up transformer increases the voltage while decreasing the current, while a step-down transformer decreases the voltage while increasing the current for domestic and commercial distribution. Students got an opportunity to experience practical aspects of substation and they have learnt in theory. It was an informative, interesting and learning experience.
