Paavai Insitutions’ Journey with Microsoft India started in December, 2010. Initially, a Proof of Concept (POC) Center was started in Jan, 2011 to show case the competencies and talent available among the Paavai students. An ideation fest was conducted during Feb to May, 2011 – wherein the Paavai Students were asked to ideate and come out with innovative abstracts/ideas, which can be carried out as projects leading to Innovation using Microsoft Products.
More than 800 ideas were submitted by, the students of various Paavai Institutions and they were evaluated for its uniqueness and relevance by a team of Professors & Faculty. 49 of these ideas were shortlisted and found unique (thorough validation and eliminating ideas which were lifted/copied & found duplicate). These 49 ideas were presented to a team of Software Professionals from Corporates like Microsoft, TCS, Mahindra Satyam, Mayuras Automations & renowned Independent Consultants – who went thru these presentations and shortlisted 5 of those ideas to go further with Project work using Microsoft Products. One such presentation and Project Work of Dinesh Kumar, EEE 2012 Passout got published as an ebook by Amazon.com.
Paavai’s Proof of Concept Centre became an “iSpark” Center – as a recognition of proving the competency and the MOU for the iSpark Center was exchanged on 21st Jan, 2012. During the second Ideation Fest, 48 ideas were shortlisted by the evaluation Panel after eliminating duplication. On 29th Sept, 2012 these 48 Presenters presented their ideas to to a team of Software Professionals from Corporates like IBM, Ericsson, TCS, Mahindra Satyam, L&T Infotech, Easun Reyrolle and renowned Independent Consultants and 30 of them got shortlisted for taking them further as projects using Microsoft Products.
On 6th Dec, 2012. Paavai’s sustained good work earned the status of Microsoft Innovation Center and the MOU was signed & exchanged between Mr.Joseph Landes, General Maanger – DPE, Microsoft, India and Chairman, Paavai Institutions. WOWAZPP 2012, a worldwide Hackathon was conducted at Paavai iSpark Center on 9th & 10th November 2012 and 153 developers participated in this worldwide event with 81 apps published in Windows Store. National/World wide events like International Women’s Hackathon(22nd to 24th Feb 2013), Microsoft India Apps Fest (26th feb 2013), Global Windows Azure Bootcamp (GWAB on 27th April 2013) in addition to organizing four Windows8 Boot Camp during June & July 2013. During the India MIC Summit held at Bangalore on 18th March 2013, Paavai MIC was awarded and recognized for its exemplary effort.
In the year 2018, Microsoft Innovation Centre has been transformed to PaavaiSoft Innovation Centre.

The PEC Library has got an excellent collection of Books & journals. Built on titles and journals of international repute, the library makes our college truly a centre of global learning. Internet facilities are provided to access information within campus to save time.
Adequate care is taken, that the Library is kept updated, to help the students in broadening their horizons of knowledge. It has an extensive collection of 47560 volumes and 11525 Titles, National Journals 144, International Journals 126 , college has 449 Springer Nature 3 Subject Collection – Engineering, Computer Science, Chemistry and Material Science e-journal package, magazines and non-book material CD & DVD 1126 for the students, and faculty members. The books are classified according to Dewey Decimal Classification Scheme. Open access system is followed in the library.

About the Lab
English is a language of opportunities and it plays a vital role in securing desirable employment. Accuracy and fluency in the use of language are very essential. Technology – aided learning has started playing a significant role in the pursuit of language learning. The state – of -the – art language laboratory which has been established aims at facilitating the learners to gain mastery in the use of English. It enables the students to expedite the process of improving learning skill with more emphasis on LSRW (Learning, Speaking, Reading, and Writing) leading to desirable employability. The language

lab intends to develop the confidence level of students and it would motivate them to use their language skills outside the classroom as well. The technology thus fulfills all the needs of language learners and educators.
Objectives:
- To enhance the proficiency of the students in all four primary skills (LSRW) of English through computer aided teaching.
- To emphasize the importance of English as a medium of learning academic subjects.
- To facilitate the students to shed fear and anxiety while using English and to overcome their mother tongue influence
- To equip students with confidence to undergo placement training programs through round the year practice in small presentations, group discussions, debates and mock interviews.
- To enhance spoken skills through various software/ computer programs.
- To develop interactive approach in learning the second language.
- To provide every student enough time to practice the components of the language through repeated exposures.
- To make them aware of the need to learn better pronunciation through stress on word accent, intonation and rhythm.
Facilities:
An exclusive language laboratory with advanced software is available. The language lab has an excellent education teaching material production facilities in the form of audio – studio with duplication facilities of audio and video software equipment and the peripheral equipment have been locally procured. The entire equipment has been housed in an acoustically treated and centrally air-conditioned language lab. The language lab room would be used for about 6 hours per week.

Entrepreneurship Development Cell & IIC
Entrepreneurship Development Cell makes an effort to galvanize and integrate a culture of innovation through a favorable entrepreneurial ecosystem to help budding entrepreneurs to perceive their skill and dream to start up their own enterprises. It shapes the entrepreneurial skills like idea generation, business modeling, cash flow, forecasting, negotiation & sales skills through hands on training, programs, mentoring and campus startups. It develops the leadership skills among the students to enhance their entrepreneurial proficiency.
