About the Department

The Department of Physical Education in Paavai Engineering College was established in the year 2001.

At Paavai, Physical Education is deemed a part of academic curriculum offering continuous training to develop and maintain the human body physically fit. Remembering the slogans ‘Health is Wealth’ and ‘Sound mind in Sound body’ the Physical Education Department strives to sharpen the overall cognitive abilities and motor skills through sports, athletics, different exercises and various outdoor and indoor games.

There are many sports grounds and courts separately for all sport and games. Arjun Sports Maidan has enviable facilities on a par with international standards. Kalpana Chawla open ground is there for cricket, hockey, football, handball, kho-kho etc,. A mega Paavai indoor stadium provides facilities to play all indoor games like Table Tennis, Shuttle, Chess etc., Sachin Tower Gym is an excellent centre for students and staff to maintain their physical fitness.

Paavai offers free boarding and lodging for a good number of sports students and the tuition fee is also waived.

The unique feature of Paavai Physical Education Department is that it has established it’s First position in all levels such as Anna University level, All India Inter University level, National level and State level in Sports and games.

Further, Paavai feels proud that its sports students have got appointments in various departments like Railways, Income Tax, Postal, Army, Police etc.,

Under the guidance of specialized and experienced SDAT coaches for all the games, the players are given exposure to the tournaments at State, South Indian and National Level Competitions.

Every year, our Paavai Engineering College have proved their mettle with a mark of excellence in the conducting various games. The list of conducted games are as follows

N.SANTHANARAJA, The Physical Education department is led by Prof.N.Santhanaraja. He has completed his under graduation in Commerce in the year 1999 from the Kandaswamy Kandar College, Velur. In the year 2001, he obtained his post graduation degree in Physical Education Annamalai University. For the past 20 years and has guided many students to achieve in All India Level, National Level & State Level Tournaments. He has always motivated the students to get placed in various Government jobs with continuous encourage, monitoring and counseling.

He has completed his under graduation in Physical Education from the Annamalai University in the year 2006. He obtained his post graduation degree in Physical Education Annamalai University in the year 2008. He obtained his Master of Philosophy in Tamil Nadu Physical Education Sports University in the year 2009 For the past 8 years and has guided many students to achieve in All India Level, National Level & State Level Tournaments. He has always motivated the students to get placed in various Government jobs with continuous encourage, monitoring and counseling.

Mr.M.Elavarasan,
Yoga Coach

Mr.M.ELAVARASAN has completed his Diploma in Yoga from the Annamalai University in the year 2015. He obtained his under graduation degree in Yoga from Tamilnadu Physical Education and Sports University in the year 2018. He obtained his NSNIS Certificate Course in Sports Coaching from Sports Authority of India in the year 2018. He obtained his post graduation in Yoga Therapy from Tamilnadu Physical Education and Sports University in the year 2020. He is currently serving as a yoga trainer at Paavai Engineering College. He has received Yoga Sironmani award from Sivanandha Ashram in the year 2018. He is the recipient of 14 National, 2 International medals and certificates.

Mrs.V.Sathiya,
Physical Directress

She has completed his under graduation in Physical Education from the Tamilnadu Physical Education and Sports University in the year 2011. She obtained his post graduation degree in Physical Education Tamilnadu Physical Education and Sports University in the year 2014.

Facilities

Excellent Sports & games facilities with Basket ball ground, Cricket ground, Foot ball ground, Hockey, Kabaddi ground, Kho Kho court, Volley Ball Court, Badminton, Table Tennis, and Multi-gymnasium are made available to the students so as to enable them to have a sound physique. Yogic values are being taught by qualified and eminent teachers.
